UNLOCTEAM INPUT

Growing on Sci-Fi and fantasy, we were happy to participate in this game localizations. Mysteries, science, aliens, robots, madness – everything is well-served.

And visual part is so outstanding, that we often found ourselves playing more than translating.

Localization

Short deadlines, considerable amount of text, science fiction – what could go wrong? Right, nothing. Our French and Ukrainian translators rolled up their sleeves and dived deeply into translation, having fun with tons of vocabularies and dictionaries.

We can say that localization of such product can be a challenge because almost every one of five lines of dialogues was a reference to some famous classical TV-series, game etc. Alas, we had no need to watch and play  them or hit the walls finding the proper context because we did it earlier. Developers had a mercy on players and used references only to the most famous things internationally, so players should understand them easily.

It’s great to see how devs can (yes, we see it rarely, unfortunately) structure their texts and provide with context. And publisher also was a great help for us. HeadUp Games prepared detailed information for each character, so from the beginning of translation (we call it “blind translation”, when you do not have possibility to play or watch a playthrough previously) we knew how our characters will look like, learned about their attitude to the world. It helped a lot to develop and plan how these characters will be set in target languages.

Afterwords

Game has really great humor and absurd situations, and we successfully adapted them to our target languages. If you think you ever find yourself in asylum with mad scientist, who believes that you are an alien, and you will need to persuade him to spare your life, just try to pass tests from this game and you will be ready for everything.
